Artist’s Description:
Kaone is a name of Setswana origin meaning “good” or “better” and is not limited by gender. This name evokes hope and faith, essential qualities that inspire those who bear it. Africa has been the cradle of dynamic and varied civilizations. While it is true that some peripheral nations have not reached the same level of development as others, this reflects the diversity and complexity inherent in all cultures, where there are always positive and negative aspects. However, there is often a tendency to generalize and define a community by its most disadvantaged segments.
In this work, the tiger and frog patterns overlap and repeat in a half-drop design, inviting us to explore and discover a hidden and surprising Africa. The unusual combination of a tiger and frog, not normally found together, symbolizes a multidisciplinary and harmonious collaboration rather than conflict. This creative fusion reminds us that focusing on the negative only exacerbates problems, while togetherness and cooperation can reveal new and wonderful possibilities.
