OUR STORY
How was Tsikane born?
I am Patricia Almansa, founder of Tsikane African Decor. At the end of 2021, after traveling through some countries in southern Africa such as Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, and Mozambique, I decided to leave my job and my life in Spain, driven by the excitement of starting this project. In 2024, two years after that decision, I have returned to share what I have seen and learned.
“Tsikane” is a word that comes from Xitsua, one of the mother tongues of Mozambique, specifically from the province of Inhambane. The friends I made there during my trip, now siblings from different mothers and fathers, gave me an alias when I told them that I had left behind a stable job in Spain with the desire to change my life. “Tsikane” is an adjective to define those people who make difficult but necessary decisions to inspire a great change. And there is no better name to give the brand.
Arriving in South Africa somehow I was immediately captivated, not only by the beauty of the territory but above all by its people. In recent decades it has become a country where people from all over the African continent congregate in search of work, education and protection due to a combination of historical, political and economic factors. These combined factors have contributed to South Africa becoming a diverse and multicultural country. However, it is also important to note that migration in South Africa is not without its challenges, and the country faces issues such as xenophobia and social tension related to competition for resources and employment.
We take art to every corner of europe
Tsikane African Decor was born from the desire to bring art and designs from this corner of the world closer to Europe. The commitment of this project is to give visibility to the creativity and talent of young artists in the area.

Tsikane African Decor specializes in the sale of products for decorating spaces with contemporary African designs, with tribal and ethnic notes, that tell stories and recall the legacy of these countries.

Tsikane African Decor celebrates African Culture and creativity through its prints and designs and our mission is to give the vision that these young artists deserve, bringing creations from the south of the African continent to the markets of Spain and Europe.

We work hand in hand with small agencies and independent designers in Johannesburg, but that’s just the beginning. Our dream is to expand, go beyond borders, and take our passion for art to every corner of South Africa and beyond, exploring the creative riches of the entire African continent.
